ZANZIBAR

Zanzibar is the much talked about holiday destination. The Spice Island!  White sandy beaches and lots of shopping! We specialise in all packages to Zanzibar and the surrounding islands including cycling safaris. We do like to make things a bit more interesting and you will find our packages to always have something else added.

This very special package takes in the attractions of Stonetown, the spice plantations and the beautiful beaches of the east coast at Matemwe.   The accommodation establishments used are amongst the best on Zanzibar and are of a deluxe standard.

DAY 1 (Daily departures)
Depart Johannesburg on Air Tanzania flight to Zanzibar via Dar es Salaam.   On arrival you will be met and transferred to Mbweni Ruins Hotel.  Dinner at your hotel to the sound of bushbabies and waves on the shore below.  Overnight in a comfortable suite overlooking the gardens and beach.  Spend 3 nights here including all meals.

The Mbweni Ruins Hotel is on the sheltered west coast, 6 km from Stonetown and the harbour and 5 minutes drive from the airport.  This small, upmarket property has only 13 air-conditioned suites, each furnished in distinctive Zanzibari style.  Each suite is close to the swimming pool and secluded beach and has a balcony overlooking the sea.  The advantage of being on the beach but close to Stonetown is that you can take any of Zanzibar's exciting trips from here and return to peace and tranquillity in the evening.   There are trips to the sandbanks opposite the hotel, where you can swim and snorkel on pristine beaches and enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch set up by the hotel staff.  Walk the nature trail winding through the grounds or go canoeing in the mangrove glades just to the south.   Romantic ruins from the era of Livingstone can be explored in their lush botanic garden setting.    For something more relaxing take in a massage with some of the many exotic Zanzibar essential oils. 

DAY 2
Today you will be taken on a guided tour of the most interesting sights in Stonetown, including the Anglican Cathedral on the slave market, the Palace, House of Wonders and the Old Fort.

DAY 3
Visit Zanzibar’s spice plantations and palaces on a morning tour.  Return for lunch and relax in the afternoon or return to Stonetown on the hotel shuttle for more exploration and shopping before returning to the hotel for a leisurely dinner.

DAY 4
Transfer to Matemwe Bungalows –

• all airport and inter-hotel transfers
• accommodation throughout including all meals
• Stonetown tour and spice plantation tour

Prices exclude – Tanzania departure tax from Zanzibar (USD 30 per person to be paid on departure), travel insurance, visas, health requirements, drinks, other extra/optional excursions and activities, gratuities, all items of a personal nature and any service not specified.
